What I learned in the assignment ?

In this assignment I learned that I can research a topic and take what I’ve researched and put it in a PowerPoint format and make it look presentable.  Another thing I learned is that I have to be more organised, in terms of having everything ready to present. I also learned that working on your own means a lot more work on your own, however it also means that you don’t have rely on anyone.

What I discovered about the mission and myself ?

What I discovered is that if I can’t do something I get really stressed out, instead of calming down and asking someone for help or even a lecture. I also found that I get really nervous presenting in front of crowds, because I haven’t really did it before. It didn’t help my nerves that I hadn’t prepare what to say.  

My success and failures of the mission ?

The failure of this mission was not being able to  present my work as I forgot my USB key at home and coming late to lecture. A success for me was actually doing the assignment on my own and actually having it done.

Aspects of the mission I was proud of  ?

My proudest moment of the mission would be when I figured how to make a Gif and being able to make PowerPoint slides that look presentable because I didn’t know I could do that as I have never tried it before.

What I learned in the assignment ?

In this assignment I learned that I have to better my skills in editing and using premier pro .

I also learned if something is not going your way, you can just adjust it maybe to suit whatever you’re trying to do.  I also learned how to use google docs. It was my first time using it as I usually use powerpoint to my slides. I learned how to use premier pro although I wasn’t very good at using it

What I discovered about the mission and myself ?

What I discovered about myself in this mission is that my stress levels can through the roof with this assignment, especially when I can’t quite figure something out. One thing I discovered is that I need practice with premier pro to get better at using as I might need it next semester for another module.

My success and failures of the mission ?

A failure in this mission was not getting rid of the blur in the football video clips. A success was actually getting it finished because there was a time where we all thought that we wouldn’t get it done and finished. Another success in this mission was that we managed to get blur off the texts that appeared on the screen.  A success in this mission was showing people how digital journalism affected football and showing how it is easier now

Aspects the mission I was proud of  ?

An aspect I was proud of was getting it submitted. Another aspect of the mission I am proud of is that we managed to actually get a good grade from our presentation. We  got 70 out 100 which isn’t bad we thought we were going to do a lot worse than we thought

Creation of the product ?

In the making of the presentation all three of us had different roles . My role was try research information on the football journalism for the slides, while I was doing that I other members of my focused on trying to get premier pro and editing working. A different member worked on the surveys and went around surveying people. I decided to do like 12 slides because it was good length, it was not too short or too long bare in mind we had to make the video last roughly 5 minutes.

I decided to change the slides to a black colour because I felt that would make the words pop out more since that was the people were going to see.  I was trying to see what title of each slide I felt that the slide title was meant to be short but one of my classmates decided that it should be longer and that it doesn’t necessarily have to be short, so we went with that.  In the slides we decided to add some football pictures to spice it up the presentation to show the contrast of the old and new.

Me and my other classmate started to add the slides that would have survey and the survey feedback that we got. We slipped them in the later slides. We fitted them in the later slides because we thought the other slides would be better show first before showing the surveys as the other stuff was more important. 

MY other classmate was still working with premier pro and he was struggling with the title and the videos. For some reason they were coming out blurry. We got help from other people and that were in other groups but it didn’t work. As much  as we tried, we must of spent 3 days trying to get it working and nothing worked. We ended up scrapping premier pro because it didn’t work, however we didn’t  just leave it we took screenshots and put them in our slides to show everyone that we didn’t just not use but just that we didn’t know how to work it . In the end it didn’t look bad,

Goals for the mission?

A personal goal of mine,  would be try to get an excellent in this mission as I got a satisfactory in the last mission. A goal would be to try and see if I can learn how to use a premier pro . Another  goal would be to try and to show people the evolution of journalism from the newspaper days to nowadays  where social media and the internet is more big now.  

End product I hope to produce ?

I expected the end product to be a video presentation that would have slides explaining how football journalism would have changed over time. The first few slides will talk about how people back then used newspapers and how people had to go up an actually physically get the newspapers. We will also describe how papers were made, and how back then newspapers were only fir rich people. The other slides will discuss how journalism is nowadays in the digital age. The slides will discuss how quick and effective football journalism is  .  we will also add in surveys and football clips and some pictures.

The end of the product you produce ?

The end product should have a black background and it will our names at the start and then it will fade away. Then it’ll have slides that  will have points on them.  It’ll also have football clips. The presentation will also our survey results and we will read them out in the presentation. At the end it will also have the  CDM and the Tud Dublin as shaun said it must in the end .

The resources that helped me ?

Resources that helped me and my group was google slides for the slides in our presentation .  another tool that we used was premier pro to construct our presentation. We also used survey monkey to survey some people about journalism and how it has changed

What I learned in the assignment ?

I learned that I could work on a topic with a group of people and I believe that it’s  better for me to work in group than on my own, as more stuff gets done quicker  and more efficient in my opinion . 

I learned that we as a group can make a decent presentation. I also learned that planning from the start   helps way more than leaving it till the last minute .

What I discovered about the mission and myself ?

I learned that I have to improve on my presenting skills, so like better body language and facing the crowd when I speak. I also need more composure when I’m up there standing talking to the crowd, because it effects how my voice sounds. I discovered that I am a better researcher than thought I was when I put in the time and effort into what I want to research in. I also something as basic as memes have a bigger part to play in society than I thought.  

My success and failures of the mission ?

I think a success in this mission was that everyone in the group worked well together everyone did their role well.  A failure in this mission was how we presented the presentation. I think that I should’ve wrote what  I had to say before- hand, however  I don’t think  I had enough time to actually with the presentation.

Aspects of the mission I was proud of ?

An aspect I was proud of was me getting the courage to actually get up and present   for the first time properly. Another aspect I was proud was the creation of the presentation. I was also proud with the grade me and my group got in the presentation.

Creation of the presentation ?

We first decided what we were going to do before creating the presentation. In college, in the mac lab after deciding what groups we were going to be in.  One of my classmates from my group said we should try show how meme culture has a say in the world and in our society. We also planned meetings, so we could get more work done on the presentation, as we had one week off for Halloween . We couldn’t meet up due to me being sick and one of my classmate living so far away.

First day back from the break and we could discuss what our presentation could look like. We decided that should use PowerPoint, because one of our members had a bad experience using word document . We decided to pick the sub genres for which we would put in the presentation. At first I chose sports memes , but me and my group felt that was too easy. We wanted to choose unique topics so are presentation would stand out more than everyone else’s . I ended up changing mine to Area 51 because I watched some videos. From the YouTube channel called meme channel  

After we had all decided what we wanted to do our meme sub genres on we then decided to do research on the chosen topics. We all did our research on the three topics. We wanted the information all finished by Saturday so Sunday we could put it in our slides and on Sunday we could figure out what we could say when we are standing up presenting. I then researched area 51 memes. I found information on the BBC website and on Wikipedia I also used word document to store the research that I did before sending it to my classmate. I found it hard researching because there was so many articles popping and picking the right that has the most relevance can be difficult.

When we all had finished researching the topics that we all sent it to each other through slack to have look we had researched and see what we could put in our slides. We picked the best bits and put them in the slides. After we put them in the slides . We then rehearsed what we were going to say for the presentation.

The Presentation went well, I just feel like I needed to work on a few things for the next

Memes process

I chose memes out of all the other topics because it’s the one I thought that it would be fun and interesting to look into. Maybe because I find memes funny and like using them I had a slight biased in my choice to them than the other topics that were there. Me and my classmates got together from slack. We joined the slack group and then we decided to come together and work on this assignment together.  We also used slack to communicate about the project. We also used snapchat to communicate as well

My goals for the mission ?

A goal for me in this assignment was to look deeply into the history and background of memes and they came about. I also wanted to look into how they became popular in modern society.  Another goal for me would be to show people how memes affect modern society, through our presentation. Another goal for me and my classmates was to try make our presentation stand out, because we knew that memes was going to be a popular topic.

A personal of goal of mine would to figure out how to make a meme. One goal would be actually present because I didn’t actually present for my last presentation. A goal would be to get a satisfactory in this assignment as I didn’t get one for my last one. Lastly I would like to learn a new skill or some new information that I didn’t know before  

The end of the product you produce ?

At the end, when our presentation was finished we hoped that it would look like a well-structured presentation on PowerPoint format.  The first few slides will talk about the history of memes, and the how trendy they are. The other slides would be the sub genres of memes that we chose. The sub genres will be Area 51 memes that I chose, simple life memes and war memes. These sub genres were to show how much of an influence memes have in society. The presentation will also have memes and pictures of area 51 and the other sub genres of memes such as simple life memes and war memes
